Open Box Rocks at Realcomm 2017

Posted by Brendan Canny in: Real Estate, innovation, robotic process automation, Realcomm

As a team, Open Box recently made its presence felt at Realcomm in San Diego by successfully exhibiting, as well as contributing a panel discussion. A two-day event, Realcomm focuses on the intersection of commercial and corporate Real Estate, technology, automation and innovation.

Dustin Strydom, as our Director of Automation Services, discussed how Robotic Process Automation (RPA) fits into the AI and machine learning environment. Our sales team also had the opportunity of introducing our Automation Engine, Rob Sparke, and of showcasing how RPA is enabling our industry to reach new heights in commercial and corporate Real Estate innovation.

Whilst the event kicked off with the usual CIO roundtable which again focused largely on Cyber Security, the opening session mostly revolved around Realcomm’s CRE 5.0 theme which is based on the belief that CRE is now in its 5th phase of automation. Themes such as AI, Autonomous Cars, Blockchain, Mixed Reality, Robotics and Drones were highlighted.

Another constant theme across most of the events was integration of disparate systems.

Our team were left with the general feeling that the talk by Larry Smarr, who is widely accepted as one of the key inventors of the internet, was an overall highlight in that he emphasized the fact that automation and progress were coming and that if you are not implementing it, let alone thinking about it, you could be too late.

The event was a huge hit and provided our team with plenty of networking opportunities as well a chance to take note of some of the new and exciting developments taking place in our industry. All in all, Realcomm 2017 was described by many in attendance, as one of the best to date and we were proud to share a space alongside some of the leaders in Real Estate Technology.
